An Evening with John Legend: The All Of Me Tour

Were you one of the 28 million viewers who took in the 56th Annual Grammy Awards on January 26? If so, you will have seen nine-time Grammy Award-winner John Legend performing his stunning smash single “All of Me”.  If you missed it, check it out here.
The Centre is thrilled to present the critically-acclaimed American singer-songwriter and actor in concert on Monday, May 12 in an exclusive Canadian engagement.
Legend is touring in support of his highly acclaimed fourth studio album Love In the Future which continues to gain momentum on the Billboard 200 Chart and currently sits in the top 10 on the R&B Album Chart. Produced by Legend and longtime collaborators Kanye West and Dave Tozer, the album’s hit single “All of Me,” was recently certified Gold sales status.
Legend, who has sold over seven million albums worldwide, is known for his signature emotional generosity and strong sensuality in his performances that garners him audience feedback like “smooth as butter”, “amazing”, “baby making rapture” and “breathtaking”.
Legend, who began playing piano as a young child, was the musical director for a co-ed jazz ensemble in college when fate intervened with his music career.  It was at that time he was introduced to Lauryn Hill who invited him to play keys on her hit song, “Everything Is Everything”.  From that point on, Legend began developing an audience by playing regularly around Philadelphia and eventually Boston, New York, Atlanta and Washington D.C..
After college, Legend started to develop his own sound as he worked on putting out a first demo.  An introduction to the then up-and-coming rapper Kanye West really got the ball rolling.  Legend signed to West’s record label and was engaged to add his silky vocals to the hooks on West’s tracks.  In 2004, his debut solo album Get Lifted, released through Columbia Records, went Gold, selling 540,000 copies.
Legend has since gone on to put out three more successful albums and is a highly sought-after collaborator.  He’s worked with numerous R&B, soul and rap artists including JayZ, Mary J. Blige and The Black Eyed Peas to name only a few.
An artist and also a philanthropist, Legend, who began the “Show Me Campaign” in 2007 to break the cycle of poverty through access to education, was named by Time Magazine as one of the top 100 most influential people in 2009.
Do not miss this intimate and acoustic setting solo performance, highlighted by guitar and vocal accompaniment along with a string quartet, as John Legend premieres at Centre In The Square on Monday, May 12, 2014 in his exclusive Canadian performance.
