You think your parents are opinionated? Then say hello to Asha, a mother who is determined to see her son, Ravi married. And she doesn’t shy away from doing so, even if it means arranging his marriage for him!
MT Space and Centre In The Square are proud to co-present A Brimful of Asha, a hilarious and unusual theatre piece starring real-life mother and son Asha and Ravi Jain. It tells the true (and very Canadian) story of generational and cultural clash. When Ravi takes a trip to India in 2007, his parents decide it is the perfect time to introduce him to potential brides. Ravi is not sold on the idea of getting married (at least not yet), but Asha fears that time is running out.
A Brimful of Asha, not only alludes to the song by UK band Cornershop, but is also a take on Asha’s name, which means ‘hope’.  Why Not Theatre’s artistic director Ravi and his mother tell their story together, letting us into their personal drama and heartwarming story of family, marriage and the quest for the perfect bride!
