Last year, we introduced new and contemporary theatre for kids in our Studio Theatre. We were eager to bring kids and their families back to The Centre through original and imaginative work, incorporating theatre, dance, puppetry and humour. This year, we will follow on the success of shows like The Man Who Planted Trees, Bubblemania! and Pekka, and introduce immersive and interactive works to an international line up of the best kids programming for 2014-2015.
Kicking off the season at our Opening Party on September 13, The ToyBox offers an interactive and creative fun zone where kids of all ages can create theatre, play, explore and even throw a great party. It invites children into a world of exploration and wonder, inspired and created by Waldorf, Montessori and Reggio Emillio.
On November 22, the story of a brave little mouse on a journey visits The Centre. Based on the novel by Paul Gallico, Manxmouse is one-of-a-kind presentation about a very different mouse and his adventure to find his destiny.
Brought to us by Le Théâtre des Petites Âmes on January 31, Pomme is a puppet poem that is full of wit and humour and is suitable for the little ones up to age 3.
On February 28, Gruffalo’s Child is a sweet story about a small Gruffalo and her father’s warning. Gruffalo’s Child is filled with songs, laughs and scary fun for children and their adults!
Kaboom! On March 14, the mad scientist, Doktor Kaboom will present a science variety show for all ages that features a sidesplitting journey of spectacular, and often successful, experiments and demonstrations.
Kaput is a hilariously funny mix of chaos, comedy and acrobatics for all ages! On April 11, this clumsy ‘Mr. Fixit’ takes one step forward and two-steps back in a highly skilled, hilarious and poignant bit of madness in physical theatre and circus.
Bill Blagg’s Trickin’ will visit on May 9 to delight and astound the audience with his years of experience as a magician. Blagg dives into the world of science and how magicians use it to perfect their tricks.
