Our Holiday Gift Guide Part I

While it might just be a little early to be stringing the twinkle lights or setting up some festive wreaths, it’s never too early to think about what to get your loved ones this holiday season, whether it’s your significant other, friends, kids, or even the office Secret Santa list. If you’re like me and you want to avoid the December shopping rush, you might be keeping an eye out for some great online deals, or even clipping coupons to some of your favourite retailers.
But what if you’re sick of the numerous toys and gadgets on sale and want to cut down on the clutter in your house? Then keep reading because our holiday gift guide includes just the thing – by giving them the gift of memories!
Why not give that special someone an early holiday treat by taking them out to the smash hit show, The Book Of Mormon. This outrageous musical comedy follows the misadventures of a mismatched pair of missionaries, sent halfway across the world to spread the Good Word.
Some other great shows that will get you in the festive spirit are The Brian Setzer Orchestra’s Christmas Rocks! Extravaganza and Skydiggers’ A Legendary Horseshoe Christmas.
If they’re a big fan of shows like So You Think You Can Dance or Dancing With The Stars, then you’re in luck – dancing stars Travis Wall, Nick Lazzarini, Teddy Forance and Kyle Robinson will be here in Kitchener this February with an electrifying dance show, Shaping Sound.
For the music-lover in your life, a night out listening to their favourite artists can make for some great moments. At The Centre, we have a great line-up of musicians and musical shows ranging from Million Dollar QuartetAlan DoyleSteven PageForeigner and even The Blues Hall Of Fame Tour! If they’re more into classical or choral music, there are also some great Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony concerts and shows by the Grand Philharmonic Choir this season.
For those who like to hear their live music in a more intimate setting, why not give them tickets to our OnStage concerts? Presented cabaret style, this unique format is a reversal of sorts: instead of enjoying the performance from the vantage point of your soft-seat in the theatre, you’ll be seated at a table on stage just a stone’s throw away from the artist! For music lovers, this is a fresh and exciting way to experience respected and known artists in an intimate and unique environment, while also discovering soon-to-be household names. We’ve got some amazing artists in store for you next year: Jenn GrantThe Devin Cuddy Band and Joel Plaskett.
If music’s not their thing, perhaps give them the gift of laughter with some of our great comedy shows. We’ve got Jim Jefferies, and the best of Montreal’s Just For Laughs Festival with their 2015 Road Show. If you keep an eye out soon, you can maybe snag some great seats to next year’s KW Comedy Festival Gala night!
If it’s hard to choose one, consider getting them a premium experience the next time they’re at The Centre by gifting them with a CentreStage membership.
If the visual arts is more their scene, perhaps consider a membership to THEMUSEUM or to one of the many fun and interesting workshops at the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery. Not only do you get to experience and learn new things, you’ll be supporting the local arts and cultural community.
For the foodies, perhaps a few cooking classes at the local Kitchener Market might whet their appetites. The Culinary Studio and Relish Cooking Studio offer some great bundles and membership plans for the more enthusiastic culinary aficionados.
Watch out for next month’s guide, where we talk about some great ideas for the wee ones in your life.
