Accelerator Centre’s CEO Dr. Paul Salvini brings his dynamic leadership to Centre In The Square’s Board of Directors. Prior to joining the Accelerator Centre, Salvini held senior positions at Christie Digital and at Side Effects Software for over 18 years.
It was at Side Effects Software that Paul got his behind-the-scenes experience in the entertainment industry – he led a three-time Academy Award winning team of mathematicians and software developers in the development of Houdini: an industry-standard 3D animation and visual effects software package used to create effects in over 400 Hollywood films.
Among his many honours, Paul was named one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40™ in 2007, a national award that recognizes individuals for outstanding achievements in innovation, leadership, vision, and community involvement.
Paul is an active member of the community and holds appointments as Associate Vice President of Research Commercialization at the University of Waterloo, Adjunct Professor of Computer Science in the Graduate School of Computer Science at the University of Toronto, President of the University of Waterloo Alumni Council, Chairman of the Network Centre of Excellence in Graphics and New Media (NCE-GRAND) and a member of the Barnraisers Council. He is the cofounder of several companies in the technology space.
Also at this time, we heartily welcome Mayor Berry Vrbanovic, Councillor Scott Davey (Ward 1) and Councillor Paul Singh (Ward 6) to the Board of Directors. They join John Gazzola as the four city representatives to the CITS Board.
In addition to serving on all regular standing committees of Kitchener City Council, Mayor Vrbanovic is an active participant on a number of boards including Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro Inc., University of Waterloo, Kitchener Housing Inc., Grand River Hospital, and Downtown Kitchener BIA.
Councillor Davey is Chair of the City’s Finance and Corporate Services Committee and serves on the Economic Development Advisory Committee, and he has previously held senior roles in Finance and the Information Technology sector.
Councillor Singh is Chair of the City’s Planning and Strategic Initiatives Committee and serves on the Economic Development Advisory Committee, as well as on the board of Kitchener Power Corporation.
We look forward to working shoulder to shoulder with these accomplished business and community leaders in the year ahead.
