Weekend Arts Around Town (April 10-12)

Don’t know what to do this weekend? If you’re not heading to The Centre for Kaput or Dora The Explorer Live!, we’ve got a few ideas:
Friday, April 10 @ 8PM
AYRAD (pictured above)
Boathouse Restaurant & Music House
Ayrad explores myriad musical styles, shifting from Andalusian and Berber rhythms to Reggae, Raï and Latin grooves. Formed by Hamza Abouabdelmajid and oboist Annick Beauvais, Ayrad is now a collective made up of six talented multi-instrumentalists – all masters of world music cross-pollination. In addition to creating their own compositions, the group breathes new life into pieces drawn from Maghrebian, Arab-Andalusian and Moroccan-Jewish repertoires.
Saturday, April 11 @ 8PM
The Turret Nightclub
With their show Les Chiclettes à Hollywood!, this all female vocal trio from Ontario will take you on a musical journey through the history of female rock & roll that is unparalleled in the entertainment industry today. Les Chiclettes bring harmonies and flair of the girl group era.
