Disco Divas: Where Are They Now?

While dancing under a mirror ball to some of your favourite disco tracks, have you ever wondered what happened to those 70’s legends that created a decade of funky, groovy music? Wonder no longer – we’ve followed five popular disco divas and what they’re up to now:
Gloria Gaynor
Famous for having one of the first survivor songs before Destiny’s Child, Gloria Gaynor can “Never Say Goodbye” and is still belting out great songs. Check out her performance at this year’s Grammy Celebration:

Earth, Wind & Fire
One of the most critically acclaimed bands of the twentieth century, Earth Wind & Fire has produced numerous disco hits including “Boogie Wonderland” and “September”. Going strong for over 45 years, they’re still touring and keeping fans on their feet:

Donna Summer
The undisputed Queen of the 70’s disco boom, Donna Summer’s hit “Hot Stuff” still gets us strutting on the dance floor. Sadly, she passed away in 2012, but it looks like her musical talent has passed on to her daughters, Brooklyn and Amanda. Check out Amanda Sudako with her husband Abner Ramirez:

ABBA
The legendary Swedish pop quartet that has influenced decades of musicians and spawned a musical, ABBA lives on in our hearts and minds decades after the band split up. Agnetha, Benny and Björn are still active in the Swedish music scene, while Anni retired from the music industry:

Village People
One of the first LGBTQ-friendly icons, this band’s biggest hit “Y.M.C.A.” has become not just a disco staple, but a cultural phenomenon. After a short hiatus from 1985-1987, the group is still active, touring all over North America and the world:
