Weekend Arts Around Town (June 19 – 21)

Don’t know what to do this weekend? If you’re not heading to The Centre for Davenport Dance Project on Saturday, we’ve got a few ideas:
Friday, June 19 @ 4pm
Communitech Hub – 151 Charles Street West, Kitchener, Suite 100
Head over to Communitech for a free performance that will launch the Open Ears Festival’s Between The Ears 2015 festival.
Catch a free preview of Montreal’s Lori Freedman and Marc Boivin, as they collide in a spontaneous improvisation at the Communitech Hub. Music and dance meet in the moment, proof that the Waterloo Region is a centre of both cultural and technological innovation!
Saturday, June 20 @ 8PM -1AM
From 8PM to 1AM Downtown Kitchener will be transformed by live entertainment, amazing food, local artists, music, culture, and fun programming. It will be a night of exploration and discovery as you make your way through the illuminated streets.
Admission is free for this event.
Saturday, June 20 @ 8PM – 11PM
Kitchener City Hall Civic Square
Spend your Saturday evening at Kitchener City Hall Civic Square for Our World Musical Festival. Our World Festival is a free admission, all ages, family friendly event celebrating its 10th Anniversary with the return of two artist favourites.
Our World Festival of Music presents performances by artists whose roots reflect and celebrate Canada’s rich cultural diversity and is presented for the benefit of all Kitchener residents as an opportunity to come together, and to promote intercultural dialogue and understanding through the universal language of music.
Sunday, June 21 @ 1pm – 5PM
Uptown Waterloo
Open Streets is a global initiative inspired by the Central and South Americas “Ciclovias” and Seattle’s “Car Free Sundays.” Open Streets advance the livable cities movement by temporarily closing streets to automobile traffic for walking, dancing, playing and socializing. Enjoy live music, impromptu parks, art, activities, community booths, businesses and eateries.
Open Streets Uptown Waterloo is a publically led, publically funded initiative.
Centre In The Square will have a booth set up at this event. Make sure you come by and say hello.
