Weekend Arts Around Town (July 9-12)

Don’t know what to do this weekend? If you’re not heading over to the Centre tonight for The ABBA Show, we’ve got a few ideas:

KULTRÚN WORLD MUSIC FESTIVAL & PAN AM GAMES SHOWCASE (pictured above)

Neruda Arts’ Kultrún World Music Festival is the Waterloo Region’s only family friendly celebration of diversity featuring local, national and international artists, all-ages interactive activities for kids, workshops by professional artists, storytelling, performance art, a food and craft market, Boathouse beer garden and after-parties and lots more. The festival kicks off with a ticketed opening Gala on July 9th, where fans can get up close and personal with top Kultrún artists Anita Tijoux, Chico Trujillo and Lucho Quequezana (pictured above).

CROOKED SWORD COMEDY ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY SHOW

Crooked Sword Comedy is hosting its one year anniversary show with the one and only Clifford Myers. This free event will include the very funny Mayce Galoni and headliner Dom Pare, among others. There will also be an after party following the show to celebrate Crooked Sword’s one year milestone.

NONVIOLENCE FESTIVAL
Roos Island, Victoria Park
The region’s many positive forces will be gathered under the banner of nonviolence – to celebrate the building of a brighter future. The day will mark the festival’s ten-year anniversary and features community group displays, vendors, music, food, and children’s activities. Admission is free.
