Six Time Grammy Award Winner Buddy Guy Returns To The Centre

Since his last performance at Centre In The Square in 2008, Buddy Guy has released two new albums, received multiple awards and came out with an autobiography, When I Left Home: My Story.
At age 79, Buddy Guy’s incredible career spans over 50 years with just as many albums released. His most recent awards include a 2015 Lifetime Achievement GRAMMY Award, three 2015 Living Blues Awards Readers’ Poll for Blues Artist of the Year (Male), Most Outstanding Musician (Guitar) and Most Outstanding Blues Singer.
Needless to say, at 79 Buddy Guy still has it. Ranked number 23 in “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” by Rolling Stone Magazine, Buddy Guy still generates more heat and energy than players half his age, and continues to lead the way toward the future of the blues. Between 2013 and 2015 Buddy Guy released two #1 Billboard Blues albums. In total Buddy has five #1 albums on Billboard’s Top Blues chart and twelve Top 10 Billboard Blues albums.
His most recent album Born To Play Guitar, released on July 31, 2015 features guest appearances by Van Morrison, Joss Stone, Kim Wilson and Billy Gibbons.  Listen to “Whiskey, Beer & Wine” from Buddy Guy’s latest album.

Buddy Guy is a genuine American treasure and one of the final surviving connections to an historic era in the country’s musical evolution. Watch Buddy Guy discuss his passion for blues & his new album Born To Play Guitar  in this interview and be sure to get your tickets to see him live on April 20 before they’ve sold-out.
