Hip-Hop Crew I.AM.ME is Here in the Fall!

Hip-hop and dance lovers are in for a treat this year with I.AM.ME, the champions from Season 6 of MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew. Here’s their final battle from that year:

The name stems from “Inspire. Motivate. Energize.” They’ve labelled their style “Brain Banging,” which they describe as a series of connections and large-scale visuals that create shapes and puzzles with the human body. Take a look at this number from just last year of America’s Best Dance Crew:

Jana “Ja Ja” Vankova started her dance career in 2006 as a member of the Czech hip-hop group Out of Bounds, which became a semi-finalist in Czech’s Got Talent in 2010. She started in 2010 with the I.AM.ME crew. In 2015, she came in second place on So You Think You Can Dance.

Phillip “pacman” Chbeeb heads up the I.AM.ME crew. You’ve likely seen him in movies, too, including Step Up Revolution, Step Up All In, and Jem and the Holograms. He placed in the Top 12 of So You Think You Can Dance Season 5.

Emilio “Millie” Dosal wowed viewers in So You Think You Can Dance Season 11 with his high-flying, quick-firing stunts. He’s appeared in Step Up All In and in several episodes of The AXI: Avengers of eXtreme Illusions. He studied taekwondo for ten years before beginning dance at age 18.

Brandon “747” Harrell was inspired by artists, like Michael Jackson and Usher, in grade 5 and began learning hip-hop in high school. He loves choreographing, and you can find samples of his work online.

Tamara Rapp has been dancing for most of her life and hails from Hawaii. Her dancing is inspired by Ian Eastwood, Mark Kanemura, Whyley Yoshimora, and Laurel Thomson, to name a few. She competed in Season 7 of America’s Best Dance Crew.

Scarlett Nabil competed in Season 7 of America’s Best Dance Crew. She comes from Mexico.

I.AM.ME’s foundation is their diversity: their members come from different countries and cultures. They strive to show what possibilities await a society that puts aside differences and comes together. This crazy, funky, “brain bangin'” dance crew will be here on Saturday, November 12. Tickets are on sale now.
