Ingenious Improvisers are Back!
What is it about these guys that makes them so funny?
Danger, disaster, and daring! No, this isn’t some fantastical feat of flight! It’s lanky-as-a-giraffe Ryan Stiles, “I’m not my brother Bill” Joel Murray, as-slick-as-his-hair Jeff B. Davis, and the funny curmudgeon Greg Proops!
But who are these guys really?
Ryan Stiles: Is he American? Is he Canadian? Only he knows in his heart of hearts. (But according to Wikipedia, he has dual citizenship.) Born in Seattle, WA, to Canadian parents, he moved to Vancouver when he was 10. Known for his impressions of Gordon Lightfoot, his ability to pimp fellow improvisers into the most bizarre songs on made-up album compilations, and, quite honestly, his height, Stiles has had television audiences laughing for almost two decades. He’s most famously known for his appearances on The Drew Carey Show and Whose Line Is It Anyway?
Joel Murray: He may not be his brother, but he is Bill Murray’s brother. He’s had recurring roles in hit shows like Dharma & Greg and Mad Men. And if you watched Cheetos commercials between 1986 and 1997, Murray was the voice of Chester Cheetah. He’s also had guest appearances on The Nanny, Joan of Arcadia, Two and a Half Men, Malcolm in the Middle, Criminal Minds, and Blossom.
Jeff B. Davis: He’s suave, keeps his hair up with the times, and got to act alongside Night Court legend John Larroquette for the entire season of the series Happy Family. He performed on Whose Line Is It Anyway? and has had guest roles on The Drew Carey Show, The Downer Channel, Highway to Heaven (when he was just 12), and loads more.
Greg Proops: Obviously the smartest man in the world (if you believe the name of his podcast), Proops has been doing comedy since his college days. He frequented both the US and UK versions of Whose Line Is It Anyway? When he’s not in front of a live audience, he’s behind the voice of an animated character: Bob on Bob the Builder: Project Build-It, the Galactic Basic-speaking half of the two-headed pod-race announcer on Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace, and also in Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, to name a few.
