Comedians Kevin Pollak, Scott Thompson, and Jon Dore…all in one night!
Comedic heavyweights will be on stage at this year’s opening gala for the KW Comedy Fest. Or haven’t you heard yet? Take a look.
You’ve likely known Kevin Pollak for years: he received his cinematic break in Rob Reiner’s A Few Good Men. Two years later, he again received accolades, this time for his performances in The Usual Suspects and Martin Scorsese’s Casino. But what has the comedian-turned-serious-actor-turned-comedian been doing lately?
Pollak made his directorial debut with the comedy documentary Misery Loves Comedy, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival 2015. It shot to #1 of all docs on iTunes in 2 days. Next, he directed the indie comedy feature The Late Bloomer, based on the true story of a man who has a tumor removed from his pituitary gland, and whose body can now go through puberty … at age 30! The movie is now available exclusively on Netflix.
His award-winning Kevin Pollak’s Chat Show celebrated its eighth anniversary in March 2017. If the longest on-camera conversations that creative icons like Tom Hanks or Elon Musk have ever given interest you, there are now over 280 chats to choose from.
Kevin was named by Comedy Central as one of the Top 100 Comedians of All Time, and he’ll be headlining this year’s KW Comedy Fest Opening Gala.

Then there’s Scott Thompson, best known as his iconic alter ego, gay bar owner Buddy Cole on The Kids in the Hall. The group formed in 1984 with Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney, and Thompson. The eponymous sketch comedy series ran from 1989 to 1995 on CBC and was also carried by CBS, HBO, and Comedy Central.
Lately, Thompson has been touring as a stand-up comic and appearing in such series as Reno 911, Tim and Eric Awesome Show, and Carpoolers; played Jimmy Price on two seasons of the NBC series Hannibal; and is one of the leads on CraveTV’s new show What Would Sal Do?

And last, there’s Jon Dore, writer and creator of The Jon Dore Television Show, which ran from 2007-2009. He’s also guest-starred on How I Met Your Mother, Baroness Von Sketch Show, Inside Amy Schumer, and many, many more shows. Dore had a lead role on ABC’s How to Live with Your Parents and was the series lead in the CBS Pilot The Half of It.
In addition to his television and writing credits, Dore has also appeared in several films, include starring opposite The Prince Bride’s Cary Elwes in the Arclight Films comedy Teen Lust; The Pickle Recipe opposite Lynn Cohen; and later this year in the comedy Corpse Tub, with Taika Waititi (director of Thor: Ragnorok), Sam Huntington (Josh Levinson in Being Human), and Kate Micucci (Lucy in The Big Bang Theory).
