CENTRE IN THE SQUARE ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Board of Directors of the Centre in the Square (CITS Inc.) are pleased to announce Eric Lariviere as the Executive Director of the Centre in the Square effective April 15, 2024 after an international search conducted by Martin Bragg & Associates.
Eric is currently the General Manager, Flato Markham Theatre & Executive Director of Destination Markham Corporation in Markham, Ontario. Prior to that he was President and CEO of Daytona Beach International Festival in Daytona Beach, Florida, and the General Manager of Societe du Centre Pierre-Peladeau in Montreal, Quebec. He has also been a Professor at Seneca College since 2013.
“Lariviere is an innovative leader with extensive international experience. He is well-suited to lead CITS Inc. through its next iteration as the premier theatre for entertainment and community engagement in Kitchener, throughout Waterloo Region and beyond,” said Dan Carli, Board Chair, Centre in the Square.
“I want to welcome Eric Lariviere to our community as the next leader of one of the best performing arts facilities in Canada,” said Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic. “Eric has a diverse background in theatre development and philanthropy and is a municipal professional who I know will bring new life and experiences into CITS Inc., while working collaboratively with the City of Kitchener and our partners, on developing our new Culture & Entertainment plan.”
Eric is an experienced performing arts manager with over 30 years of theatre experience. With a diverse and international background, he will bring a unique blend of global perspective and network, business, and marketing acumen to CITS Inc.

The Centre In The Square Inc. (CITS Inc.) is a not-for-profit corporation, and registered charity, established in 1981 to maintain, operate and manage the 2,000 seat state-of-the art performing arts theatre situated in the Civic District of Downtown Kitchener. The building, owned by the City of Kitchener, is home to the Centre In The Square (CITS) and the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery.
